Painting the Invisible

We live immersed in the invisible.

There is an ancestral invisible, one that predates all technology: the wind touching the skin, a fragrance transforming a space, the music emerging from the sea and waterfalls, the dream that reaches us when we close our eyes. We cannot hold or contain these things, yet we immediately recognize their presence. The invisible is not an absence. It is a force that acts upon us.

There is also an invisible universe within matter itself. A single cell, imperceptible to our eyes, reveals through a microscope an immensity of forms, movements, and structures. What appears not to exist may contain an entire world, simply because our vision cannot reach it.

There is also the invisible realm of technology: the voice traveling through wires, sound carried by waves, images arriving from afar, and messages crossing cables, antennas, satellites, networks, and oceans within seconds. GPS guides us through signals we cannot see. Artificial Intelligence processes data, establishes connections, and produces responses through operations that remain hidden from our eyes. The means, distances, and speeds may change, but the experience remains: something we cannot see reaches us and creates presence.

We call this realm the “cloud,” as though our memories, conversations, and images were suspended invisibly in the air.

The word “cloud” seems light and immaterial, yet it names an immense and silent structure that connects and surrounds us. The words that appear in my paintings arise from this same condition. Their forms are visible, but what they awaken remains invisible. They do not function as explanations. They interrupt the image, create tension, and open new meanings.

I-Pad para Pintar2026

My painting emerges within this interval between what reveals itself and what escapes the eye.

I began my artistic journey before the internet and watched the world become increasingly connected, accelerated, and immaterial. My work accompanied this transformation not as an illustration of technology, but as the perception of an atmosphere, an invisible field formed by messages, memories, noise, desires, interruptions, and signals.

Between the figurative and the abstract, between the intensity of color and the precision of the graphic line, I construct a language made of repetition, layering, and fragments. Images and words emerge as traces of a communication that is not always completed. They are signals cast into space, awaiting interpretation.

I Follow Rivers2025 · 100 × 120 cm

An empty chair preserves the memory of someone who was there and the possibility of someone yet to arrive. A staircase suggests passage, choice, and movement. A bottle may hold more than its visible contents. Each object ceases to be only what it appears to be and becomes a conductor of other presences.

In my painting, I seek to give visual form to the many invisible forces that accompany us, transforming into lines, colors, words, and images what our eyes cannot reach but whose presence we can feel.

What truly interests me is the moment when a form ceases to be merely a form and begins to carry memory, energy, and thought. At that point, the object moves beyond its own boundaries and becomes presence.
